Reels trending ads, Super Burst and First Impression ads: what UAE advertisers can use
Reels trending ads put your ad straight after top trending Reels. Meta's help pages describe a reserved Awareness campaign on Instagram Reels, booked through a Meta sales rep, with location targeting by US states only and a recommended $200,000 to $250,000 per flight. For most UAE advertisers, reservation or normal Reels placements are the realistic route.
On 15 October 2026 Meta announced four brand advertising products at its Brand Building Summit: Ads Super Burst, First Impression ads, more topics for Reels trending ads, and a measurement test called Aggregated View Time. Most coverage since has been news, with little on who can actually buy them.
I read Meta's announcement and the help centre pages behind each product. Below is what each one is, what Meta says about access, budget and targeting, and which of them a UAE clinic, property developer or e-commerce brand can realistically use.
What Meta announced
Meta's Brand Building Summit announcement names four products, and they sit at very different stages: one is open to all advertisers, one is rolling out, one is a US test and one is in alpha.
- Ads Super Burst. You book a window of 3 to 24 hours and reach your audience "at TV-like scale" inside it. With category exclusivity, no other advertiser in your category can book the same window.
- First Impression ads. The first ad someone sees in Feed when they open the Facebook app. Meta calls it an early test in the United States, with one brand per day.
- Reels trending ads. Your ad runs straight after the most-watched Reels. Meta says it opened access to all advertisers last year and now offers 15 always-on topics plus seasonal line-ups, such as the holidays and the start of the football season. Custom audience exclusions are due "later this year".
- Aggregated View Time. Measures the total time someone spends with a brand across a week, instead of judging each view on its own. Meta says it is "in alpha".
The results in the announcement, such as a lift of more than five percentage points in action intent for campaigns with Reels trending ads, are Meta's own figures against control groups. Read them as Meta's claim, not a benchmark for your account.
How Reels trending ads work
Reels trending ads are booked as a Reservation campaign with the Awareness objective, after a Meta sales rep has given your ad account access, according to Meta's About Reels trending ads page.
Reservation means you agree a fixed cost per thousand impressions (CPM) and a predicted reach before the campaign runs, instead of bidding in the auction. Meta's set-up page lists the steps and the limits:
- Access comes first. Both help pages open with "This product may not be available to you yet" and send you to your Meta sales representative. Open to all advertisers in principle, it is not a switch you will find on your own in Ads Manager.
- Instagram Reels only. The help pages say the ads appear in the Reels tab on Instagram. The announcement mentions Facebook as well, so confirm the placement when you book.
- All trending Reels, or topics. Topical ad sets must be booked separately from an all-trending ad set. The set-up page lists five topics: beauty and fashion, animals and pets, sports, food and drink, and cars and transportation. The announcement says there are now 15, so the list in your account may be longer.
- Seven days minimum. A campaign must run for at least 7 days and can be booked up to 180 days ahead. At least one video must be added within 24 hours of launch.
- Strict brand safety by default. Ads default to limited inventory, Meta's strictest brand suitability setting, with third-party verification and block lists available.
The budget and targeting catch
Meta's set-up page recommends a minimum budget of $200,000 to $250,000 for a 2 to 3 week Reels trending ads campaign, alongside the 200,000-person minimum reach that every reservation campaign needs.
That is Meta's figure in US dollars. At the dirham's fixed rate of AED 3.6725 to the dollar, it comes to roughly AED 735,000 to AED 918,000 for one flight. For context, the monthly ad budgets I manage range from AED 5,000 to AED 850,000. One recommended flight of two to three weeks sits at or above the top of that range.
The second catch is location. The same page says that "at this time" Reels trending ads support audience targeting by age, gender and states in the United States. It lists no other country (checked 28 October 2026). As documented, there is no way to aim a Reels trending ads campaign at Dubai or the rest of the UAE. If you work with a Meta rep, ask whether that has changed before you plan around it.
Ads Super Burst and First Impression ads
Ads Super Burst is planned in Reach Planner, Meta's planning tool, which estimates reach and price, and Meta's announcement gives no budget, no minimum and no list of markets for its phased rollout.
Meta's test flights reached a median of 34 million people, which Meta says was 14% of the US adult online audience in a single day. That is the scale it was tested at.
Reach Planner already offers a related option called ads burst: a reservation campaign that aims to reach up to 60% of your target audience over 2 to 5 days, across Facebook and Instagram Feed, Stories and Reels. Meta's page says ads burst campaigns typically need a higher minimum budget than standard campaigns and tells you to ask your sales rep for the figure. The page does not mention Super Burst (checked 28 October 2026), so treat them as separate products.
First Impression ads are easier: a US test with one brand per day, and Meta says nothing about how to buy it. If you advertise only in the UAE, do not plan for it. Aggregated View Time is in alpha, so the same applies.
What a UAE advertiser can use today
Reservation, the buying type behind these products, is an option when you create a campaign in Ads Manager, and Meta's reservation page describes it for awareness and engagement campaigns reaching more than 200,000 people.
- A reservation awareness campaign. Fixed CPM, frequency control and planning up to six months ahead. Meta says delivery is "not 100% guaranteed" and you pay only for what is delivered. A broad UAE audience should clear the 200,000 minimum, but one emirate and a tight age band may not.
- Ads burst, through your rep. If you have a date that matters, such as a launch weekend or a clinic opening, ask your Meta rep or the agency that holds your account whether ads burst is open to you and what the minimum is. If your ads need a special ad category, the plan has a setting for it. Property campaigns that reach buyers abroad may need the housing special ad category.
- Reels in the auction. Your Leads and Sales campaigns already run on Reels through Advantage+ placements. For most UAE businesses this is where Reels earns its keep: no reservation, no minimum flight, and optimisation for leads or purchases rather than reach.
- Your own moments. Meta builds line-ups around holidays and sports seasons. You can plan budget and creative for Ramadan, a launch or a sale inside your normal campaigns.
What I ask UAE clients first: when someone asks about a new Meta brand product, I ask what they are short of: people who know the brand, or qualified leads. A reserved awareness buy addresses the first. It does nothing for the second, because an Awareness campaign never optimises for a form, a WhatsApp chat or a booked consultation. I add awareness spend only once lead campaigns convert at a cost the business can live with, in its own budget line so it cannot eat the lead budget.
Which one fits your account: a decision rule
Choose by your goal first and your budget second. This is my rule, not Meta's:
- You need leads or bookings this month: none of the four. Run Leads or Sales campaigns on Advantage+ placements and fix tracking and the conversion goal first.
- You have a launch date, an audience above 200,000 and spare awareness budget: a reservation awareness campaign in Ads Manager. Ask your rep about ads burst if you want the reach squeezed into 2 to 5 days.
- You want a 3 to 24 hour moment with category exclusivity: ask your Meta rep whether Ads Super Burst has reached your market. Meta has not said where it rolls out.
- You advertise in the US and can commit six figures in US dollars to a 2 to 3 week flight: Reels trending ads, booked through your rep.
- First Impression ads and Aggregated View Time: wait. One is a one-brand-a-day US test, the other is in alpha.
If you do run a reservation campaign, judge it on reach, frequency and brand lift. Meta reports these products as lifts in recall, intent and awareness, and they will look poor against a cost-per-lead target they were never set up to hit.
What to do now
- Decide what you are short of: awareness or qualified leads, before you talk to anyone selling inventory.
- If it is leads, check that your Leads and Sales campaigns optimise for a real outcome, not link clicks.
- If it is awareness, size the audience. If it cannot reach 200,000 people, a reservation campaign cannot meet Meta's minimum, so widen it.
- Ask your Meta rep three questions: can Reels trending ads target the UAE yet, has Ads Super Burst reached the UAE, and what is the ads burst minimum here.
- Keep awareness spend in its own budget line and measure it on reach and frequency.
- Check again in a few months. Meta says custom audience exclusions for Reels trending ads are coming and Super Burst is rolling out in phases.
If you want a second opinion before committing budget to any of this, it is the kind of question our Meta Ads management starts with.
