Facebook instant forms vs landing pages: which to use for leads in the UAE

By Abhishek Thakral · abhi.performs, Dubai · Updated November 2026 · 9 min read

Short answer

Use Facebook instant forms when your team calls or WhatsApps every lead within minutes and you need volume. Use a landing page when buyers need detail before they enquire, or the offer is high-ticket. Then judge both on cost per qualified lead in your CRM, measured in the same weeks, never on cost per form.

Facebook instant forms usually bring the cheapest leads in a Meta account, and often the hardest to close. A landing page costs more per lead but asks more of the person before they reach your sales team. Which one is better depends on what happens after the lead arrives.

Most guides on this are written by lead-sync and form-tool vendors, and the head-to-head test still ranking for this question ran in 2016. This is the practitioner version, built from Meta's current help pages and what I see in UAE lead-gen accounts.

What Facebook instant forms are

Instant forms are lead forms that open inside Facebook or Instagram when someone taps your ad, so the person can enquire without leaving the app, according to Meta's help page.

You choose them in a Leads campaign by picking Instant forms as the conversion location. Meta may prefill the person's name, email and phone number if they have already shared them with Meta, which is why the form is so quick to submit and why some leads forget they submitted it.

A form has a form type, an optional intro, at least one question, your privacy policy and an ending screen. Two limits matter in practice. On iOS and Android, Meta says form submission works only in the mobile Facebook app, not in mobile browsers such as Safari and Chrome. And the quality features (conditional logic, phone verification, work email checks) work only in forms built in Ads Manager, not Business Suite.

The three instant form types

Meta offers three instant form types: More volume (the default), Higher intent and Rich creative, and the one you pick changes who submits.

Form typeWhat it addsWhere it runsUse it when
More volumeNothing extra: quick to submit on a phoneNo placement limit listed by MetaYou want the most leads and can filter them yourself
Higher intentA line under the contact fields saying the business may follow up, plus a review screen to confirm detailsFacebook Feed and Instagram feed on mobile onlyEvery lead gets a call or a WhatsApp from a person
Rich creativeBrand colours, images and extra text such as product details; the intro is mandatoryMobile apps and Instagram, not desktopPeople need context the ad cannot hold

Meta's own guidance is that if follow-up or qualification is needed on every lead, a higher intent form "may make more sense". I agree for most UAE lead-gen accounts: More volume is where most of the "I never filled in a form" calls come from.

Instant forms vs landing pages at a glance

An instant form keeps people inside Meta's app with their details prefilled, while a landing page sends them to your website to read, decide and type.

Instant formLanding page
Effort for the personLow: tap, check prefilled details, submitHigher: page load, read, type
What you controlForm type, intro, questions, ending screenEverything: copy, photos, price, FAQs, proof

Cost per leadTypically lower (less friction)Typically higher
Usual weak pointLow-intent and wrong-number leadsSlow mobile pages and drop-off before the form

The cost row is the trap. A form lead that never answers the phone is not cheap, so the only fair comparison is cost per qualified lead (see below).

When an instant form wins, and when a landing page does

An instant form wins on fast follow-up and simple offers; a landing page wins when buyers need detail first. My rules for UAE lead-gen accounts:

Choose an instant form when:

Choose a landing page when:

For off-plan volume, an instant form paired with an automated WhatsApp message is still the setup I start with. It is the playbook in my real estate lead generation guide, where one Dubai off-plan account moved AED 7.9M of off-plan property from AED 13,869 of Meta spend. If WhatsApp is the real conversation anyway, compare the form with click-to-WhatsApp ads too.

What I see in UAE accounts: the form is rarely the whole problem; the follow-up usually is. Accounts that complain about instant form quality usually run More volume with only prefilled fields, download leads by hand once a day and call from an unknown number. Fix those before you pay more per lead for a landing page; the set-up steps are below.

Meta's third option: website and instant forms in one ad set

In a Leads campaign you can now choose Website and instant forms as the conversion location, and Meta sends each person to whichever of the two they are more likely to convert on.

It saves running two campaigns, with three limits:

Because Meta decides who sees which, it cannot tell you which destination is better for your business. Use it to collect leads from both; run a proper test when you want an answer.

Quality goals need your CRM data either way

The Maximise number of qualified leads goal works with both instant forms and website forms, but since April 2026 new campaigns can only use it with Conversions API integration, according to Meta's performance goals page. Existing campaigns are affected from August 2026.

This changes the comparison more than the form does. If Meta only ever hears "lead", it finds more people who fill in forms. Once your CRM tells Meta which leads became qualified, booked a viewing or bought, Meta can show either format to the people most likely to convert, not just to submit. Meta reports 21% lower cost per quality lead for instant form ads that used Conversions API for CRM with the qualified leads goal, and 9.5% lower for website forms using the qualified leads goal, each compared with Maximise number of leads. Those are Meta's figures, not mine.

If you have not connected your CRM yet, my Meta Conversions API setup guide covers the set-up order.

How to set up an instant form that filters

Meta's best practices for lead ads note that fewer multiple-choice questions bring more submissions and more of them typically bring more quality leads, so build the form around that trade-off.

  1. Build it in Ads Manager. That is where the quality features live.
  2. Pick Higher intent if a person follows up on every lead.
  3. Write an intro that sets expectations. Say what happens next, for example: "A consultant will WhatsApp you the payment plan within 10 minutes." Only promise a time your team can keep.
  4. Add two or three multiple-choice questions. Budget band, timeline, buying or renting, area. Keep short-answer questions to a minimum.
  5. Turn on phone verification if wrong numbers are your main problem. It asks people to confirm their mobile with a one-time code before they submit.
  6. Send leads to your CRM automatically and alert the team, rather than downloading a file once a day.
  7. Schedule the ads for hours when someone can respond, if your follow-up is not automated.

How to compare instant forms and landing pages fairly

Run both at the same time with the same budget, audience and creative, and compare cost per qualified lead from your CRM, not the cost per lead in Ads Manager.

Meta suggests an A/B test when you compare form lengths, and the same approach works here: one variable, the destination. Agree with your sales team what "qualified" means before the test starts (reachable, in budget, in timeframe), and keep it running until both sides have leads with an outcome in the CRM.

Illustrative numbers, not account data: instant forms bring 100 leads at AED 40 each (AED 4,000) and 20 qualify, so AED 200 per qualified lead. The landing page brings 50 leads at AED 80 each (AED 4,000) and 16 qualify, so AED 250 per qualified lead. The form wins here, but change the landing page's qualified count to 25 and it wins instead. Only your CRM can tell you which world you are in.

If the test shows both are too expensive, the problem is upstream. My guide to lowering cost per lead covers the fix order. If you would rather someone ran the test for you, that is part of Meta Ads management.

Frequently asked questions

Are Facebook instant form leads lower quality than landing page leads?+
Often, because the form is quick to submit and Meta can prefill contact details. A Higher intent form, two or three multiple-choice questions, phone verification and fast follow-up narrow the gap. Judge both on cost per qualified lead in your CRM, not on cost per lead.
What is a higher intent form on Facebook?+
It is an instant form type that adds a line under the contact fields saying the business may follow up, and a review screen where people confirm their details before submitting. Meta delivers it only in Facebook Feed and Instagram feed on mobile devices, not on desktop.
Can I run instant forms and a landing page in the same ad set?+
Yes. Choose Website and instant forms as the conversion location in a Leads campaign, and Meta sends each person to the one they are more likely to convert on. It supports only the Maximise number of leads goal, so for the qualified leads goal you need to pick one destination.
